This annual award honours the memory of Domenica Braido, a former member of the St. Mary's College staff and prominent business owner who was known for her perseverance, integrity and genuine caring nature..
Dom spent 12 years working as a Child and Youth Worker with the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board where she provided much support.Her office door was always open to the students of SMC. Dom was an outspoken leader who leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity.
She was quoted as saying "There is much work to be done behind the scenes but there is no better feeling than presenting charities with donations. The thankful look is absolutely priceless, so I say, bring it on, I am more than ready to help." This exemplifies her big heart and the help she gave to make our city that much better.

Selecting the Recipient:
The recipient will be selected by a committee that may be comprised of members of the SMC community, including, but not limited to, the following: members of the Special Education Department, teaching staff, educational assistants, administration, coaches, secretaries
If need be the committee will vote - candidate will be selected by May 31 annually.
